The Eldritch Dark is a Clark Ashton Smith site, and quite lively. Tons of Smith’s original art, as well as lots inspired by him.

Whoa, this guy’s poetry is awesome, “Alchemy of Sorrow,” “The Balance,” there are so many and they read well. He says some of the same things I do in my poetry, but his is worth reading…… I should have been listening better…….
And he looks like he has a picture of a Buddha, with the blue face and the three eyes, called entitled “(untitled) Alien?!” This is something I have pondered as well, if I am reading the art right.
I am so curious about your spiritual views, sir…… probably not the best person to ask about them, but I wouldn’t mind hearing about them, because SciFi writers are kinda like prophets, it seems………
Also, gotta love the Vorts
Check out “The Hashish Eater” if you can find it. Donald Sydney Fryer sometimes does readings of Smith’s poetry in the Bay Area.
AH, man, sounds 420 friendly
. I will make an effort to check out Donald on google. See whats up. Thanks Mark, you’re really great to your fans.
Hey Marc, thanks for the link. I was willing to read more stuff by CAS (it is sometimes hard to find certains authors here in Spain… no surprise anyway).
Waaaaaaaah, one day I’ll learn to properly write and express myself in English. I promise.
Your English is far superior to my (nonexistent) Spanish. My mother spoke Spanish around me a lot as a child, but always over my head, when she didn’t want me to know what she was talking about. There is a lot of agitation right now in the sf and fantasy community, with the desire of seeing a lot more work available in translation–both from English into other languages, and from other languages into English. I should provide some links, I suppose. Night Shade Books has been putting out very nice CAS collections co-edited by my old friend Ron Hilger…highly recommended, although shipping to Spain might be prohibitively expensive.
I just checked this link again, and this site actually has an audio reading of “Hashish Eater” actually by Donald, lol. And an interesting one called “The Sorcerer Departs.” This is perfect for me. I have listen to several full audio books. You were saying this guy has some critics? I will give it a try anyway, it sounds like it is good for me, so you put me on to some good things again
I cannot follow him well with his unfamiliar lexicon, but it is cool how he rolls the “r’s” like maybe Agente; I never could do that. By the way, I’d love to see Barcelona or Madrid. But there seems to be sub spoken thoughts in the language. It is strange and somewhat incoherent. Or it seems difficult to follow, considering the awkward grammar and inflection. I wish people would be a bit more eccentric, and challenge each other intellectually like this fellow.
Doe this represent your spiritual views at all? Because I’ll probably never understand it, but it’s definitely cool
I’m trying to imaging you dressed up as a sorcerer and reading this stuff in a dark candle lit room lol…… Good times. Valhalla
LOL, youre awesome, Mark
